Goldfinches – Year 3

Welcome to the Goldfinches Class!

Hello and welcome to the Goldfinches class page. My name is Mrs Walker and I am the teacher in the Goldfinches class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I have just recently moved to Coates Primary School and I am already really enjoying my time here. I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching and in that time I have taught in Years 3, 4 and 5.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading and spending time with my family. We like going to lots of new places and having exciting, new adventures.

This half term our topic is 'Land of the Three Quarter Sky' where we look at both the geography and history of Coates and the surrounding area. We also look at the topic of 'Light' in Science where we get to do lots of interesting experiments!

Our topics this year:

Autumn 1

The Penguin Who Wanted to Find Out

Autumn 2

Choccy Woccy Doo Dah

Spring 1

Active Earth

Spring 2

When in Rome

Summer 1

Land of the Three Quarter Sky

Summer 2

The Great Invaders

Useful information

  • During this half term your child will be set weekly homework tasks which they will bring home on a Friday and it is due back in on the following Wednesday.
  • Children are expected to read at home regularly and bring their reading book and diary to school every day. These are checked every Monday.

  • Spellings and Times tables will be sent home every Thursday and will be tested on these during the following Wednesday.

  • PE will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  • If your child is having a school dinner then please share the different options available with them so that they know whether they are having the meat, vegetarian or salad option.

We have a very exciting term ahead of us!

Goldfinches Homework and Topic Information

As well as learning your weekly spellings, try to learn to read and write all of these words in the lists I have attached. I would be really pleased if you could then add these into your writing.
